Week of Wet Plate

Dieser 5-tägige Nassplatten-Kollodium-Workshop ist eine intensive Einführung in die wunderbare Welt der Ambrotypie. Erlernt werden die Erstellung von fotografischen Abbildern auf Glas, sowohl von Positiven ("Ambrotypien") als auch von Negativen für Salz-Papier-Drucke. 

PhotoWerkBerlin bietet diesen Workshop im einizigen Berliner Tageslichtstudio des Central Valley Projektes in Berlin Neukölln in einem Garten an. Das Fotografieren von Nassplatten bei natürlichem Tageslicht schafft nicht nur ein angenehmeres Bild (im Gegensatz zu hartem künstlichem Licht), sondern auch mit solch einer Beleuchtung werden die Schüler die Herausforderungen der Belichtungssteuerung erlernen. Der Workshop beinhaltet Unterricht von allen Schritten des Positiven ("Ambrotypie") Prozesses, ausgehend von der beteiligten Chemie und der Glas Vorbereitung bis hin zur Fehlersuche und das Schaffen Ihrer eigenen einzigartigen Bilder. Darüber hinaus führt er durch alle fortgeschrittenen, komplizierteren Schritte (wie beim Advanced Wet-Plate Collodion Workshop), um Negative zu machen, die später auf Salzpapier gedruckt werden. Alle Chemie und Materialien sind im Kursgeld enthalten. Darüber hinaus stehen Geräte, darunter großformatige (4x5, 5x7 und 8x10) Kameras und antike Messinglinsen zur Verfügung.

Es ist keine vorherige fotografische Erfahrung erforderlich. Begrenzt auf 4 Teilnehmer.

This 5-day Wet-Plate Collodion Workshop is an in-depth introduction into the amazing world of creating photographic images on glass, both Positives (“Ambrotypes”) and Negatives, and Salted-Paper Printing.

Renowned as Berlin's only skylight studio, PhotoWerkBerlin offers this workshop in natural daylight studio of the Central Valley Project in Berlin Neukölln with surrounding gardens.

Shooting Wet-Plate Collodion with natural daylight not only creates a more pleasing image (in contrast to harsh artificial light), but also under such lighting, students will learn the challenging issue of exposure control, something students will not learn in a artificial-light setting. The Workshop includes instruction in all steps of the Positive (“Ambrotype”) process, from the chemistry involved and glass preparation to troubleshooting and creating your own unique images. Furthermore he will guide through all the advanced, intricate steps (like in the Advanced Wet-Plate Collodion workshop) to make negatives that will subsequently be printed on Salted Paper.

All chemistry and materials are included. In addition, equipment, including large-format (4x5, 5x7, and 8x10) cameras, and antique brass lenses, is available for use. No prior photographic experience is required. Limited to 4 participants.
